SUMMARY:Candlelight Relay + Bell Lap Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow club members for a long-standing tradition to the end of our outdoor training season with the popular GCS Candlelight Relay. It’s a 4 mile relay where random teams of 4 members each run 4 x 400 meters while the perimeter of the track is illuminated with candles. Truly a sight to behold and a great way to cap off a fine season of outdoor track workouts! This is a non-competitive event\, so anyone (and everyone) is welcome to join in – regardless of pace! \nPost relay we’ll have the Bell Lap Celebration on site at the track. You bring a chair\, we’ll provide the pizza and (non alcoholic) beverages!  We will be at Nashua High School South!

I am not sure what’s next\, but I do know that I am always looking for that next challenge.” Henry Ward\n\n  \nWe’re honored to have Henry Ward participate in a virtual speaker event on Sunday\, May 10th at 7PM via ZOOM. Henry Ward has quite a list of running accomplishments including running Boston 12 times – twice as an official runner. The rest of them? He has run the Boston Marathon route 4 times a year IN A ROW! Yes\, that’s over 100 miles altogether to raise money for charity. He also run 12 hour treadmill-at-thons\, 24 hours track runs\, 100 milers and a 250k in Patagonia.\n\n  \nHowever\, there is more to Henry’s story than just running. He is a recovering alcoholic and addict. Several years ago\, as he states “I might as well have been dead because I certainly was not living.” In November 2008\, he found the strength and courage to seek help. Through running\, he has found a feeling of accomplishment and happiness and is always looking for the next adventure.\n\n  \nZOOM details are below. Then I’ll be focusing on upper body and core since these are often neglected by us runners. But don’t worry\, we will be doing some leg day work to increase our endurance and speed! \nI’ll then take you thru a good 10 minute flexibility training session to help you improve stride length\, reduce injury\, and speed up recovery. At the end\, I will be available for questions\, suggestions\, requests or drinks. Ha haaaa! \nHere’s the following recommendations that I have for you. These items are not exactly necessary. But definitely helpful. \n– a small hand towel\n– a mat\, pillow\, or soft rug (we will be on floor for part of workout)\n– if you want to increase the intensity of your workout\, please feel free to add weights or bands\n-you will not need shoes unless you prefer them \n(Lastly\, we will be doing some foam rolling techniques\, so let me know if you don’t have one and I’ll give some suggestions.)”
