The Mount Washington Road race was held on Saturday, June 19th. This time around it was not only the 50th running of the race, it also served as the 2010 USATF National Mountain running championships. And, being the “Mountain Goats” that we are, our team kicked some major butt up at Pinkham Notch.
And, as a result, GCS fielded 4 different gold medal winning National Championship teams, 1 silver medal winning National Runner-up team and 2 bronze medal winning 3rd place teams. So, needless to say we really cleaned up at the post – race awards presentation!

Finally, you'll note that four of the top 6 NH women were GCS. Lead by Amber Ferreira who received the Crossan Cup award as fastest NH Female.Amber also narrowly missed making the US Team for the World Mountain Running Trophy in Kamnik, Slovenia on September 5th, 2010. The US womens team is made up of the top 5 finishers at Washington. And she came in 7th overall in an amazing time of 1:19:47. Way to go Amber!
Congrats to everyone who ran this monster of a race! I hope you all had as much fun as I did! Everyone who participated should be proud of our efforts and results on such a hot day. And, a special thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who did an amazing job in those tough conditions. Without your help (due to the volunteer/by-pass program) almost half of our team literally would not have been there.
