30 Triad Racing Team members hit the mean streets of Bristol, NH for the seventh and final race in the 2009 New Hampshire Grand Prix Series. And, even though Greater Derry put up a heck of a fight this year (and at this race) we managed to score enough points (155 to 98) to clinch First Place Overall in the NHGP Team Competition!
The 17th annual NH 10k was run from rainy downtown Bristol, out along the banks of Newfound Lake and back. From the start to the turn around the runners climbed steadily along the slick, leaf-strewn highway out of town then turned on a dime and came barreling back down the way they came. So, naturally, most who raced finished the second 5k much faster than the first!
Once again, Rich Smith was the overall race winner finishing in a stellar time of 34:58 (5:38 pace). Of course Rich finished 1st in his 30-39 age group and first on the Men’s Open Team. Kevin McIntyre put his triathlon training on hold long enough to clock the next fastest time after Rich - finishing in 37:48. Kevin’s run helped him claim 1st in his 40-49 age group and first on the Men’s Masters Team head of Michael Wright (37:56) and Justin Platt (40:33). Next across the line was Jeremiah Fitzgibbon. Jerry finished in 38:18 which gave him 3rd in his 50-59 age group and was just enough to hold off Ken Snow (41:26) and Chuck Landry (42:03) for first place on the Men’s Seniors Team. Corey Hahnl finished 1st in his 19 & under age group and first on the Men’s Youth Team with a time of 38:45 ahead of Dan Ferreira (39:29) and Joey Castelot (46:54). And, John Lewicke led the way once again for the Men’s Veterans Team with a time of 43:49 (2nd in his 60-69 age group) ahead of David Pember (46:47) and Robert Ludwig (49:14).
On the Women’s side, Cathy Merra shined again with a stunning time of 31:15 which was good enough for 1st in her 50-59 age group and 3rd woman overall! Cathy was also first on the Women’s Seniors Team ahead of Andrea Pierce (49:38) & Susan Kenney (53:01). Next across the line was Amber Cullen who finished in 40:37 which was good enough for 3rd in her 20-39 age group and first on our Women’s Youth Team. After Amber was Leslie Reap who’s 24:06 gave her 5th in her 20-39 age group and first on the Women’s Open Team ahead of Alison Findon (48:01) and Jennifer Vincent (1:05:54). Janice Platt finished first on the Women’s Masters Team with a time of 44:23 ahead of Michelle Poublon (45:44) & Carla Chandler (47:14). Aline Kenney finished in 53:39 and took first place in her 60-69 age group and 1st on the Women’s Veterans Team ahead of Jane Levesque who achieved an * for her 58:39 finishing time by running faster than the USATF age-group guidelines for the 10k distance. Nice work Jane!
