A whopping 55 Triad Racing Team members answered the call to defend our home turf at the Moose on the Loose 10 Miler in Mine Falls Park. And, at the fifth race in the 2009 New Hampshire Grand Prix Series defend our turf we most certainly did! With the phenomenal club turnout we managed to turn a 10 point deficit into a 50 point lead in the Series Standings at the end of another very hot and humid day! Preliminary team race results had GCS finishing with 184 points, to Derry’s 126 points, with Granite State a distant third with 82 points.

Congrats to everyone who came out and helped support the team at this home town race! It was a big win for our club and we couldn’t have done it without you! The preliminary NHGP Team Scoring for the year has us back in first place with 728 points - 48 points ahead of Greater Derry who has 680 and 219 points ahead of Granite State who has 509. Our next New Hampshire Grand Prix race is The Alliance Against Cancer 5k on Saturday, Sept 12th in Manchester, NH. This race is on the same day as the Ollie 5m in Boston. So we’ll need everyone to come out and run either one or the other. You can do flat and fast 5m in MA, or a flat and fast 5k a bit closer to home. I guess, no matter where you like to run, Sept 12th will offer something for everyone!

The Alliance Against Cancer 5k is in it’s 2nd year of existence and is run from Millys Tavern on Commercial Street in Manchester. The course runs south along Commercial Street past the Fischer Cats Stadium, to the rail trail and back. In addition to the 5k feature race they also offer a 400m kids race as well! Last year the race was held at the end of August and was won my long-time GCS runner Denis Tranchemontagne in a time of 18:17. The entry fee for this race is $20 per runner (prior to Sept 3rd) or $25.00 Post Entry (see application form in the current newsletter).

For additional information on the Alliance Against Cancer 5k race including a course map, application form and directions to the start please check out the race website here.
